Tasks 1 & 2

Very hot conditions with great skies and light winds have made for fantastic flying in this part of NZ. Task 1 was a 90km run to Maruia in the south with a return to Murchison airport. John Smith won the day with Matt Barlow in 2nd and Ollie Chitty in 3rd. Shane McKay and Grant Tatham also got to coal but Shane's tracklog wasn't valid, resulting in distance points only. The day ended with spectacular over-development and thunder resounding around the valleys. More OD was forecast on the Sunday so a shorter local triangle task was called to get pilots down before the thunder struck again - and it did. Ollie Chitty provisionally in first with John Smith close behind but they are still tallying the scores. Check the results link on the left for scores. Similar weather tomorrow. We're expecting a break for rain mid week.
