FIre Precautions on Nationals sites

It is likely to be a requirement that all vehicles travelling up hills on private or forestry land will have to be fitted with a spark arrestor - this is a stainless steel gauze that is clamped over the end of the exhaust pipe and stops any sparks being spat on to combustible material and starting a fire.

Spark arrestors can be bought on TradeMe here.

In addition you will need a small shovel (plenty of folding ones on TradeMe) and a 1Kg fire extinguisher.

Interislander Ferries are offering discounted rates for the Nats, and for the rest of 2018. Details are at the link on the left.

Comp Fees and Payment Details

The comp fee will be $175 for early birds before 31st Dec, $200 afterwards.

Payment of a non-refundable $75 deposit (or the whole lot 😍) required on registration.

The early bird discount is to try and give the organiser a better idea of how many will turn up. T shirts need to be printed and paid for, etc.

2018 Nationals, Murchison

40TH ANNIVERSARY NZ NATIONALS

Update and Congratulations
The team came through with our best ever placings in a Worlds Comp:

Jonas 19th
Smithy 34th
Derek 113th

NZ Team 14th (beating 5 other 5-man teams)

John Smith, Derek McKee and Jonas Lobitz (travelled up from Chile) are now in Brasilia practicing for the Worlds, with Hagen as manager/driver.

Derek is posting video clips regularly to his Facebook page, so you can keep up there.

John has collected his Laminar, bought from Glauco Pinto.

The UK pilot Ollie Chitty is also video blogging every day from the comp.
